Help Save Life

Help Save Life, a charity organization, founded by few Malayalee guys in 2001 is continuing its journey with a helping hand even after 10 years. Currently the organization has 350 plus members and it was able to raise more than $201,000 to help 215 poor families. All the details are updated in their web site.

Kairali of Baltimore - Malayalee Community Garden Project

Kairali of Baltimore is excited to launch a Malayalee community garden project in time for 2011 gardening season. This is an event for charity, recreation, education and social networking to support the poor and needy in MD. This starts from Mid April 2011 to September at Double Rock Park, Parkville, MD. Festival of India at University of Maryland & George Washington University

Festival of India at University of Maryland & George Washington UniversityIn early April, the ISKCON temple of Washington D.C. is hosting the Festival of India at two local Universities - at the George Washington University and at the University of Maryland. The temple will be serving delicious free vegetarian prasadam lunch to 20,000 students! The mission of the free, fun Festival of India is to share the beautiful Vedic culture with the students. There will be bharat natyam dances, free veg feast, live kirtan by Gaura Vani Prabhu, beautiful tents and exhibits on Vedic culture, and an outdoor bazaar featuring books like the Bhagavad-Gita. You are cordially invited to come and enjoy both fun, free festivals including the free delicious vegetarian feast!

If anyone is interested in volunteering to help cook the feast or donate some ingredients, or provide funding for the Festival of India, that will be so wonderful! KHNA Washington DC Subharambham a Big Success

An Appeal to Save a Little Girl's (Uma) Life

This is an urgent appeal to everyone to help a little girl who is in critical condition. Uma, the six year old daughter of Dr. Indira Menon and Dr. Pramod Kaila of Atlanta, has been recently diagnosed with Bone Marrow Failure aka Aplastic Anemia. This makes her vulnerable to bruises and causes all her blood counts to be low, which in turn makes her more prone to infections and anemia. Although the current treatment plan is immunosuppressive therapy, the only curative treatment is a Bone Marrow transplant. Uma's family is searching desperately for a bone marrow match for her.

Holy Week Program

  • Palm Sunday - April 17th 2011 : Mass at 3 pm. Palm leaves will be distributed
    Palm Sunday, the final Sunday before Easter Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy Week. Christian churches distribute palms (and sometimes pussy willows) on Palm Sunday to commemorate Christ's triumphal entrance into Jerusalem, when palm branches were placed in His path, before His arrest and Crucifixion on Good Friday.

  • We are deeply saddened to inform you that Smt. Thankam Nair (Beena Kalath's mother) age 61, passed away at their house in Valanchery (Malappuram district), Kerala, on Tuesday, February 15. We convey our heartfelt sympathies to the family and pray to God to give them the strength to bear this great loss. Please keep the family in your prayers. A prayer meeting was held on Mrs. Beena Kalath's house on March 13th in honor of Mrs. Thankam Nair.
