"It is with great joy that this new website is presented to the public. It is still in the process of reconstruction. The Community is extremely grateful to Jijo Joseph and his team for building this website for us. As a Community, our immediate and urgent need is our own place of worship with all the necessary facilities. Without our own place, many of the things we would like to do as a Community still remain a wish. Our gratitude to St. Rose of Lima Parish and the Pastor, Msgr. Paul Dudziak, knows no bounds; we are extremely grateful to them for their generosity and support to our Community, in spite of the heavy schedule of the parish.

We are not many in number. Yet we have always risen to any task we had to undertake in the past. Our new fund-raising effort, the Car Raffle, is a new major undertaking; it needs the whole-hearted effort and generous support of every member of the Community. The fact that there is a new enthusiastic and exciting awareness of the tasks at hand is very satisfying, and it fills us with great hope that our goals will be realized soon. We need to put in our very best into the project even before we approach others for their generous support. Let us join hands and go ahead with great hope and trust. May the Lord enlighten our hearts and strengthen our resolve to achieve our goals.

Our special thanks to all the members of the Committee for their great zeal and effective leadership and for imparting their excitement and enthusiasm to the members of the Community!!

Tribute to Mr. Mohan Raghavan - director of "T D Dasan Std VI B"

Noted Malayalam film director Mohan Raghavan, 47, died of cardiac arrest at a private Hospital in Thrissur on October 25th Tuesday afternoon. The popular screenplay writer is survived by his mother. His body was cremated at the premises of his house on Wednesday afternoon. Mohan Raghavan hogged the limelight with his debut directorial film TD Dasan Std 6 B. It was well received by the local audience and won acclaim during the International Film Festivals like IFFK, CIFF and PIFF. It had won John Abraham award, Film Critics Award, Amritha FEFKA award, best screenplay award in New York Indian Film festival and Lohithadas award. MayN his soul rest in peace.

    T. D. Dasan Std. VI B is a 2010 Malayalam film written and directed by Mohan Raghavan. The film deals with a child's desire to see his father, and the beginning is made when he gets a clue from a piece of paper he finds in his mother's trunk. The wanderings of the boy's mind and the real unravel of world which is a mix of dreams, desires and the present are portrayed in the movie. The film features Master Alexander, Biju Menon, Jagadish and Shweta Menon in the lead roles. The film opened in Kerala theatres on 9 April 2010 to universal acclaim. It was screened at various international film festivals and has garnered several awards. Despite all the acclaim, the film performed poorly at the box office. T D Dasan (Master Alexander) is a young boy who lives with his mother (Shwetha Menon). His father had left them a few years back. Dasan gets his dad's address from his mother's old trunk box and writes him a letter. Dasan's father had moved out of that address and the letter reaches the current resident Nandakumar Poduval (Biju Menon), an Ad film maker who lives with his thirteen year old daughter Ammu (Tina Rose) at Bangalore. Nandan requests Ammu's caretaker Madhavan (Jagadish) to find out the whereabouts of the person and deliver the letter to him. But Madhavan is not that enthusiastic and the letter ends up in the waste bin. Ammu sees this and feels bad about it. She starts writing replies to Dasan, as if they were written to him by his dad. The young boy is excited at the thought of having found his dad, and shares all his feelings and needs with his dad. Ammu prompty replies with pens and other gifts Dasan asked his father. Later Dasan's mother gets to know this and gets shattered by this news. Nandakumar also gets to know this news and wants to meet Dasan, apologize and tell him the truth. Dasan's mother was later found dead under mysterious circumstances. When Nandakumar comes to meet Dasan, he understands that Dasan is now an orphan and that he has now accepted Nandakumar as his dad. Nandakumar first thinks of leaving the place without Dasan but changes his mind soon after.

    Prepare your car for winter!!

Fall has fallen and winter is approaching quicker and it seems with added vengeance each year-make sure are you are prepared to weather the weather. The rain slicked roads of autumn with their banana peel-esque covering of fallen leaves already made for rough driving; couple that with ice and snow and you have the makings of an extremely dangerous situation. Making sure your vehicle is ready for winter weather driving can be the difference of arriving safely or not arriving at all. Here are some maintenance tips from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the nonprofit group that certifies automotive technicians.

    • Basics: Get a basic tune-up. Hoses, belts, spark plugs and wires should be checked and changed if necessary. Cold weather makes existing problems worse.
    • Fuel: About once a month, put a bottle of fuel de-icer in your tank to help keep moisture from freezing in the fuel line.
    • Oil: Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual. Be aware that in cold climates, you will need winter-grade oil.
    • Cooling system: Coolant is extremely important in cold temperatures. If there is too much water and not enough coolant in the system, it can freeze and crack key engine components. Check the level, condition and concentration of the coolant before the temperatures plummet. A 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water is usually recommended.
    • Tires: Traction is imperative in the winter, when snow and ice can make the roadways slick. Examine tires for remaining tread life, uneven wear, and cupping. Check the tire pressure, as well, and rotate as recommended. Make sure that the jack is in good condition and that you have a spare tire accessible.
    • Heater/defroster: To insure visibility and passenger comfort, the heater and defroster should be in good working condition.
    • Brake pads and shoes: Replace brake pads and shoes if they are worn out. On slippery roads, maximum stopping power is essential.
    • Exhaust system: The exhaust system should be examined for leaks, and the trunk and floorboards should be inspected for small holes.
    • Washer fluid: In cold weather, regular blue washer fluids can freeze in the washer reservoir or on the windshield. Instead, use winter-formulated washer fluid, which will stay liquid at temperatures as low as -34 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Windshield wipers: Buy new blades suitable for winter conditions, especially if your current blades streak.
    • Be prepared: In case of an emergency, keep the following items in your car: a cell phone, extra de-icer washer fluid, an ice scraper, tire chains, gloves, boots, blankets, flares, a small shovel, a flashlight, snacks and bottled water.
