It is a great honor and privilege to be the President of the Kerala Cultural Society of Metropolitan Washington (KCSMW). First, I would like to thank all of you for the confidence and trust you have placed in me to lead our organization in 2017 and serve the Malayali Community in the DC Metro area. Every year, the administration does an outstanding job and raises the bar for the upcoming leaders. On behalf of the committee, I promise all of you that we will rise to this challenge and go above and beyond your expectations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank 2016 President Vasanth Nambiar, Secretary Arun Surendranath, and the entire team for the exceptional job they did to record yet another very successful year for KCSMW.
Over the past 32 years, KCSMW has delivered quality programs to the DC metro area in the fields of entertainment, education, charity, and has preserved the values of our rich cultural heritage. I am very fortunate to have a talented group of individuals on my 2017 team to continue this tradition of excellence.
Every year, KCSMW coordinates several charity initiatives to help the needy back in India and right here in our community, either through monetary contributions or through community services. Also, I am very happy to have a great team of young individuals to lead our youth activities and engage our younger members in charitable work and other activities. I would like to request your support in these endeavors throughout the coming year.
As you all know, KCSMW, along with KAGW and Kairali of Baltimore, have started the year-long celebration of the 60th anniversary of “keralappiravi” in 2016 and will be organizing several cultural events throughout this year with a Grand Finale in September. I am taking this opportunity to congratulate Hari Nambiar and Joy Koodaly, the 2017 Presidents of KAGW and Kairali of Baltimore, respectively, with whom I will be working to make this a reality.
Once again I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support of KCSMW and I look forward to working with all of you to make 2017 a memorable year. If you have any new ideas or suggestions to make our organization better, please feel free to contact me or any of my committee members.
Wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
President – KCSMW
