President’s Message

kcs-sandeepDear All,

After serving our Malayali Community for many long years in the capacity of a regular member to various positions in the KCSMW committees over the years, I consider it as an honor and privilege to be the President of the Kerala Cultural Society of Metropolitan Washington (KCSMW) for the year 2018..

At the outset, I would like to thank all of you for the confidence and trust you have placed in me to lead our organization and do our best for the Malayali Community in the Washington Metro area. We, at the KCSMW have a history of outdoing the previous administration, raising the bar for the incoming team and I am hoping to keep our tradition up, stand up to that challenge and do our best to serve this community that we all love and are part of. I would like to congratulate our outgoing team led by Sandeep Panicker and Santhosh George for giving KCSMW , an outstanding year with bustling activities every month. Let us do our very best, not to lose that momentum and keep things flourishing.

KCSMW is almost 33 years old now. Every year we have grown as an organization in terms of our reach and served the Malayali community providing opportunities in cultural growth, charitable events, educational initiatives along with providing a forum for our members to get together and feel the unity and diversity of our community. In the coming year we are expanding on the range of these programs, still staying true to our rich cultural heritage.

As with every year, we will continue to coordinate charity initiatives to help the needy back in India and right here in our community, either through monetary contributions or through community services. Our energetic team of Youth along with Women’s forum spearhead the majority of our charity events which would be kick-started by the Women’s Forum Fundraiser event which will be decided and communicated to you during the first quarter of the year. Our Miles for Smiles event (5K Run), which is a major charity undertaking by KCSMW will be in September.

We will have our regular stage events – Summer Dreams, Onam Mela and Jingle Bells in the months of May, September and December respectively.

In another exciting news, KCSMW is organizing eTalent Festival 2018 which will be a one of a kind talent festival which will be conducted Online-Social media. The flyers and brochures are out already and more of the communications will be out soon. We have an exciting, productive year planned ahead for you.

Once again I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support of KCSMW and I look forward to working with all of you to make 2018 a memorable year. If you have any new ideas or suggestions to make our organization better, please feel free to contact me or any of my committee members.

Wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,
Zeba Naveed.
